Job Opportunity (California)

Bat Conservation International (BCI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending bat extinctions worldwide, seeks a Conservation Research Coordinator to join BCI’s Science Team.

The Coordinator will join a dynamic organization and a highly progressive team, reporting to the Director of Research Coordination. The Coordinator will manage regional research and collaborative efforts to conserve bats across the Pacific West region (PacWest). The Coordinator is expected to be located in the state of California.

The Conservation Research Coordinator will be responsible for project management and coordination, conducting and supervising fieldwork for bats in the PacWest, and developing outreach and public engagement strategies for bat monitoring and conservation. The Coordinator will work on supporting and growing participation with the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) in the PacWest, collaborate on Bats & Wind Energy research projects, coordinate fieldwork for One Health research, and broadly serve as a primary contact person for bat conservation in the region.

The Coordinator must be highly collaborative and enjoy working in a mission- and results-driven environment where they can bring their whole self to work and contribute to positive ecological and social change. This position is ideal for an early career scientist interested in applied conservation with interest and experience conducting bat research and bat monitoring efforts, including conducting field surveys for bats, managing data, writing reports and scientific publications, and disseminating results to diverse stakeholders. BCI is a distributed organization with staff across the United States. While the Research Coordinator is a remote position, the candidate must be living in the state of California.
