UPLOAD METADATA CSV & COMPRESS ACOUSTIC FILES

The next steps entail uploading the project into the Partner Portal. Follow NABat guidance to properly upload the project metadata CSV. Once completed, open the “Preparing Acoustic Recordings for Upload” PDF and follow the steps in the “Compressing Acoustic Recordings for Upload to NABat” section using the following information:

NOTE ABOUT THE NABat FILE RENAMER TOOL

The NABat File Renamer Tool used in the training videos is no longer functional. The webinar "Uploading Metadata and Acoustic Files" is available and can be found on the Prepare and Process Data page.

  1. Due to federal network constraints, the tarball files must be less than 3GB. To have the best chance at a successful upload, it is best to limit the tarball files to about 500 .wav files or less. Sometimes this means more than one tarball is necessary for a single folder.

  2. If you are compressing an entire folder (a folder no bigger than 3GB before compression), the NABat webinar "Uploading Metadata and Acoustic Files" demonstrates a tutorial on file compression which can also be found on the Prepare and Process Data page. Uniquely name tarballs containing data from a single project.

  3. If you need to break up a folder because it contains too many files, it is easier to use 7-zip (https://www.7-zip.org/download.html) or other similar file compression programs. You may follow the 6 steps for compressing files found in the “Preparing Acoustic Recordings for Upload” PDF. Name all the tarball files within a single project uniquely.
